Acts of Service process and material exploration.

ACTS OF SERVICE typeface is part of Emmy Seegers bachelor’s thesis at Beckmans College of Design, 2026, Stockholm.

Acts of Service is a typeface family developed from traces of service work. The fonts are not drawn from predefined forms, but generated from collected material such as stains, marks and repetitive gestures observed in a restaurant environment. The project explores how knowledge that is usually invisible, relational, collective and bodily, can be translated into typography. They are not designed for clarity, but for presence.

To this project there is an artist book (in Swedish), exhibited 21 — 25 May at Avtryck, Beckmans College of Design graduation show.

Fractal Skeleton & Fractal Plant — Olle Ljung

FRACTAL SKELETON and FRACTAL PLANT is part of Olle Ljungs bachelor’s thesis at Beckmans College of Design, 2026, Stockholm.

I want to challenge a design culture that places a very high value on legibility. Clarity is, of course, often important, but through this project I want to show that ambiguity does not have to be a failure, and that other values such as interpretation, aesthetics, atmosphere, and allowing something to take time can also be given high priority.

I have been inspired by the music genre noise, which makes use of sounds that are conventionally considered unwanted. In a similarly subversive way, I have deliberately introduced noise onto my typography.
